EMAIL US
Tell us what happened and which iPhone and iOS version you're on. For a sharing or sync problem, open Account in the app, tap Send sync report, and attach it. It lists when your phone sent and received entries and who's on the log, but not what any entry says.
Nothing matches. Try a shorter word, or email us.
GETTING STARTED
What does Poppyseed do?
It keeps the record of your baby's days — feeds, sleep, diapers, pumping, growth, medicine and the moments worth keeping — so you don't have to remember any of it at 3am. From that log it shows how long it's been since each thing, what's usually next, and a short briefing each morning. School adds two-minute lessons for each stage, from the hospital to age three.
Why do I need an account?
The account is just your name and email, kept on this phone, so the app knows who logged what once you share with a partner or caregiver. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email and password. Your baby's log isn't stored in the account — it lives on your phone and in your own iCloud.
Will Poppyseed email me?
Only if you tick Email me about Poppyseed — at sign-up, or later in Account → your name. It's new features and the occasional bit of research, not often. Your name and email go to Kit, the service that sends the emails, and nothing about your baby goes with them. Untick the box or tap unsubscribe in any email and you're off the list straight away. If you turn it off and later back on, Kit emails you a link to confirm first.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot your password? The phone asks for Face ID, Touch ID or its passcode to prove it's yours, then you choose a new password. There's no email reset, because there's no server holding your account — it lives on this phone.
Can I sign in on a different phone?
A password account belongs to the phone it was made on, so on a new phone you create the account again (or use Sign in with Apple or Google). That's fine: your log comes from iCloud, not from the account, so it arrives as soon as the new phone is signed into the same iCloud.
How do I see the welcome tour or setup again?
Account → Welcome tour replays the tour. Account → Run setup again walks through the setup questions for the selected child, filled in with what's there now. Neither changes anything you've logged.
THE HOME SCREEN
What do the cards on Home show?
One card for each kind of thing you log: sleep, feeding, growth, diapers, and a fifth you choose. Each shows how long it's been since the last one, plus a detail — which side to start on next, how many wet and poopy diapers today, the last weight. Tap a card's button to log; tap the card itself to open its own page where it has one (Sleep, Pumping and Moments do).
How do I change how Home looks?
Tap the sliders button at the top of Home. Pick one of six layouts — Stacked, Tiles, Big numbers, Slim list, Up next or Rings — then choose the fifth card: Pumping, Moments or Meds. Tiles shows six, so you pick a sixth too. Sleep, feeding, growth and diapers are always there.
What does "usually every…" mean?
Once there are a few days of logs, Poppyseed works out the usual gap — between feeds, between pumping sessions, or how long your baby is usually awake before a nap — and says when the next one is likely. It's a pattern from your own log, not a target. It needs a few entries before it appears.
How does the Up next layout choose its big card?
Whatever is due soonest by its usual gap becomes the big card. Tap a small tile to swap it into the big spot; it stays there until the next thing is logged, then Up next picks again.
How do the Rings work?
Each ring fills up as the usual gap since the last one passes, so a full ring means it's about due. Tap a ring to log, tap a name with › under it to open that page, or press and hold a ring for more options.
Why does the feeding card say which side next?
Starting each feed on the other breast is the usual advice, and it's hard to remember at night. The card reads the last nursing feed — even if a bottle came after — and suggests the other side. It stops suggesting once that feed is more than 24 hours old.
What's the dark card at the top?
Poppy's daily briefing — see the Poppy section below. If it's long, tap it to open it fully.
LOGGING
How do I log something quickly?
The + in the middle of the tab bar opens the quick log. Sleep and nursing have a Start button that runs a timer; feeds, diapers, growth and medicines are a single tap to save with the time set to now. Every card on the Home screen also has its own Log button, and the Home Screen widget logs without opening the app.
How do I log something that already happened?
Every log sheet has a When section: tap Now, 15m ago, 1h ago or 3h ago, or set the date and time yourself. On a feed, When has Started and Ended rows, and those quick picks mean when it ended — a 15-minute bottle you finished 15 minutes ago starts half an hour back. For a nap that's over, use Past sleep in the quick log and set when it started and how long it lasted. To fill in an earlier day, open Logs, tap the day, then Add an entry to this day.
How do I fix or delete a mistake?
Tap any entry on the Home timeline or in Logs to edit it. To delete one, swipe it to the left. A timer that's still running is changed from its card on Home instead.
A sleep or a feed is still running and I forgot to stop it.
End it from its card on Home, then tap the entry in the timeline to fix the times. For a nap, set when it started and how long it lasted. For a feed, tap the clock in the feed sheet to type in the minutes on each side. The timer doesn't guess when it should have stopped.
Can I add a note to an entry?
Yes — feeds, sleep and pumping sessions have a Notes field at the bottom of their sheet. The note shows after the entry in the timeline, so "a latch that took three tries" is right there when you look back.
Can I log for more than one child?
Yes. Add a child on the account screen; the name at the top of Home is a menu for switching. Every screen, the widget, and Poppy follow whichever child is selected.
FEEDING AND NURSING
How does the nursing timer work?
Tap the side you start on. Tap the other side to switch — the clock keeps going. Tap the running side to pause. Close the sheet and the timer keeps running on Home and the Lock Screen; open it again and tap End feed when you're done. The log keeps the time on each side and which side you started on.
I forgot to time a feed.
Open Log a feed and tap the 0:00 clock where it says TAP TO TYPE A TIME. Enter the minutes on each side and which side you started on. Under When, tap when it ended — Now, 15m ago and so on — and the start works itself out from the time on each side. Set Started and Ended yourself for a feed with breaks in it.
How do I add more time to an earlier feed?
Tap the feed in the timeline and tap a side to start the timer again. Cancel changes to Keep running: tap it, or just swipe the sheet away, and the timer carries on from Home with the time the feed already had. Changed your mind? Tap the running side to pause, then Cancel. From Home, Discard puts the feed back exactly as it was.
How do I log a bottle?
In Log a feed, choose Bottle, then type the amount or tap one of the quick amounts. The ml / oz switch is for a bottle marked in the other unit; everywhere else follows your Units setting. If there's pumped milk in the fridge, From the fridge stash takes the bottle out of the stash — oldest bag first. A new bottle starts out as 15 minutes ending now; change Started or Ended under When if it took longer.
Why does the feed sheet open on Bottle?
It opens on whatever you chose for feeding style during setup. Change it under Account → tap your child → Feeding. Either way, Nursing and Bottle are one tap apart.
SLEEP
How do I time a nap?
Tap Start on the sleep card (or on the widget). The timer runs on Home and the Lock Screen; tap End nap when your baby wakes. Started one by mistake? Discard on the card removes it without logging anything.
What's a wake window?
The time your baby is awake between one sleep and the next. The sleep card counts how long they've been awake now, and once there are a few days of naps it says when they're usually ready to sleep again. The Sleep page lists each wake window.
What's on the Sleep page?
Tap the sleep card to open it. It shows today's naps and wake windows and the last few nights, counted from 7pm to 7am. A sleep that runs past midnight is split between the two days in the right proportion. Tap a night to see it hour by hour.
DIAPERS
Wet, Poop or Both?
Wet is pee only, Poop is a poopy diaper, and Both is both. Both counts toward each total, so a day of 3 wet and 2 poop diapers with one of them both reads as 3 WET · 2 POOPY even though there were four changes.
Why do the wet and poopy counts matter?
In the first weeks, they're how you and your pediatrician tell that feeding is going well — six or more wet diapers a day from about day five is the usual sign. School's first-week lessons explain what to look for.
PUMPING AND THE MILK STASH
How do I time a pumping session?
Tap Start on the Pumping card. Choose Both, Left or Right on the live card if needed. When you're done, tap End & add amounts and enter how much you got. Pumping isn't on Home? Choose it as the fifth card with the sliders button.
What does "where did it go" mean?
After a session you say where the milk went: fed straight to your baby as a bottle, into the fridge, or into the freezer — or split between them. Milk in the fridge or freezer becomes a bag in the stash.
How does the stash keep count?
Each fridge or freezer pump is a bag, dated from when it was pumped. A bottle from the stash, or Use on a bag, takes milk out oldest first. Move a fridge bag to the freezer and its age still counts from when it was pumped. If you already had milk stored before using the app, Set amount on the Pumping page starts the count from there.
How long does pumped milk keep?
Following CDC guidance: up to 4 days in the fridge, best within 6 months in the freezer and fine up to 12. Thawed milk keeps a day in the fridge and shouldn't be refrozen. Bags past those times are marked on the Pumping page so they're used or tossed first.
GROWTH
How do I log a weigh-in?
Tap Log on the growth card. Weight and length are separate switches, so you can log one without the other — a length is never carried over from last time.
What is a percentile?
Where a measurement sits among healthy babies of the same age and sex, using the WHO growth standards. The 60th percentile means heavier than 60 of every 100 babies that age. It isn't a score: what pediatricians watch is whether your baby roughly holds their own line over time.
Why don't I see percentiles?
They need your baby's sex, because the WHO publishes separate standards for boys and girls — set it under Account → tap your child → Sex. They also stop at 24 months, where the WHO standards end.
How do I read the growth chart?
Open Trends from TRENDS above today's timeline on Home. Tap a point, or hold and drag along the line, to see that weigh-in's percentile, date and measurement. Switch between weight and length at the top. The shaded bands show where most babies sit.
MEDICINE AND TEMPERATURE
How do I log a medicine?
Tap Meds in the quick log (or the Meds card, if you chose it for Home). Type the name or tap Vitamin D, Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen. Poppyseed records what was given and when; it doesn't give doses — follow the label or your pediatrician.
Can it remind me when the next dose is allowed?
Yes. When you log a medicine, turn on the reminder and choose the hours. It starts at 4 hours for acetaminophen (Tylenol) and 6 for ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), the usual minimum gaps on the label — always check yours. Dose reminders still arrive during quiet hours.
How do I record a temperature?
In the Meds sheet, switch on Record a temperature and adjust it. A reading of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher is a fever; for a baby under 3 months, call your doctor right away.
MOMENTS
What is a moment?
Something worth remembering rather than tracking: a first smile, a funny face, a sentence you'll forget by Thursday. Give it a headline, add a note and a photo if you like. Moments has its own timeline you can scroll back through, opened from the Moments card or from the quick log.
LOGS AND TRENDS
What's on the Logs tab?
A calendar of every day so far, with colored dots for what was logged. Tap a day to see its totals, its sleep laid out across 24 hours, and every entry. Add an entry to this day fills in something you missed.
How do I see only one kind of entry?
Tap Slept, Feeds, Diapers or Pumped at the top of a day. The list shows only those entries, and the other cards fade. Tap the same card again, or SHOW ALL, to see the whole day.
What's on Trends?
Growth percentiles over time, and charts of total sleep and weight for the last week or month. Tap a day for its totals, or hold and slide across a chart to read each day.
THE WIDGET AND LOCK SCREEN
How do I get the Home Screen widget?
Touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit then Add Widget, search Poppyseed, and add Quick actions. It starts a nap or a feed and logs a diaper without opening the app. Full steps are under Home screen & widgets on the account screen.
What do the widget sizes do?
Small has the nap button and how long since the last feed and diaper. Medium adds the nursing timer and the diaper buttons. Large and extra large add today's totals and the last few entries.
Which child does the widget show?
Whichever child is selected in the app. Switch children from the name at the top of Home and the widget follows.
What's the timer on my Lock Screen?
A running nap, feed or pumping session shows as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. It appears on its own when you start one and goes away when you stop it.
The Lock Screen timer doesn't appear.
Check that Settings → Poppyseed → Live Activities is on, and Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Live Activities for the Lock Screen. Both are on by default.
REMINDERS AND NOTIFICATIONS
What reminders can Poppyseed send?
Under Account → Notifications, or Reminders & quiet hours (they open the same screen): when the next feed or nap is likely due, when a medicine dose could be given again, the morning briefing at a time you choose, and a note when someone you share with logs something. Each one is its own switch.
What are quiet hours?
A stretch overnight when feed and nap reminders and caregiver updates are held back — a feed reminder at 2am is no news to anyone already up for it. Medicine reminders and the briefing still come through.
I'm not getting notifications.
First check Settings → Notifications → Poppyseed, and that a Focus mode isn't silencing it. Then check quiet hours under Account → Reminders & quiet hours — alerts about a partner's entries are held back during them. Feed and nap reminders also need a few days of logs before they can predict anything.
My partner's entries show up late on my phone.
The alert should arrive within seconds, even with the app closed — it's sent to your phone as soon as their entry reaches iCloud. If it doesn't, check that both phones have the latest version and allow notifications from Poppyseed. The entry itself appears in the log the next time Poppyseed opens; while it's open, within a few seconds.
POPPY
What is the daily briefing?
A short read every morning: what to expect on this day of your child's life, then a few notes drawn from what you've logged. It's free for everyone, and it's written on the phone unless Poppy cloud is on.
The briefing says the log has a gap.
It means nothing was logged for a stretch, so the figures are incomplete — not that anything is wrong with your baby. The notes get sharper the more that's logged.
Why is my briefing so short?
Without Poppy cloud, the briefing is written by the small language model built into your iPhone, which can manage a short summary but not the full briefing. Tap Turn on the full briefing on the card, or Account → Poppy cloud, to switch it on. The model on the phone needs iOS 26 and an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings.
What does Poppy cloud change?
The briefing and the Poppy chat run on Google's Gemini model instead of the one on the phone: better answers, a real conversation, photos. The day's logged figures leave the phone to make that happen; Terms & privacy says exactly where they go. Off by default.
How do I ask Poppy a question?
With Plus, open the Poppy tab and ask anything — about your own log ("is she eating less this week?") or in general. You can attach a photo, like a rash or a diaper. Past conversations are kept in the sidebar. Chat runs on Poppy cloud, so it needs that switched on. Free accounts get the daily briefing; asking questions is part of Plus.
Can I trust what Poppy says?
As a well-read friend, not a doctor. It can be wrong. Anything about your child's health that worries you goes to your pediatrician, and when in doubt, call.
SCHOOL
How does School work?
Lessons are grouped into units by age, from Before Baby to age three. Each lesson is a few cards and a short quiz — about two minutes — and earns XP. Finishing a unit earns its badge. The unit your baby is in now is the one to work on; the rest wait on the path.
Why is a lesson locked?
Lessons open in order inside a unit: finish one and the next opens. A red-ringed safety lesson can't be skipped — the path doesn't continue until it's done. Units 0 to 2 are free; units from three months on are part of Plus.
Can I read ahead?
Yes. A unit ahead of your baby's age is open to read early — it says when it would open on its own — and its lessons earn half XP, so keeping pace still pays.
What is the Before Baby unit?
An optional unit for the last weeks of pregnancy, the birth and the first 48 hours. Show or hide it with Show the before-baby units on the School path.
I lost my streak.
The streak counts days in a row with at least one lesson finished — one a day keeps it going, and a day without one starts it again from zero. Today doesn't count against you until it's over. It can't be bought back, and that's on purpose.
What are the exams and levels?
Unit 5 ends with a 25-question exam on the first year — get 18 right to become a Level 1 Parent. Unit 9 ends with a 40-question final covering everything to age three — 28 right makes you a Level 3 Master Parent.
What are lesson checklists?
Some lessons come with a checklist, like a hospital bag. Everyone gets the standard list, which you can edit and check off. With Plus, Poppy rewrites it for your own baby — their age, how you're feeding — on iPhones that support Apple Intelligence.
Where does the content come from?
Written from current AAP, CDC, WHO and NHS guidance, with every number a published one. Each lesson lists its sources. It is education, not medical advice, and it hasn't been reviewed by a clinician.
SHARING AND CAREGIVERS
How does sharing with my partner or nanny work?
Account → Invite someone (a Plus feature). Pick who they are — partner, grandparent, nanny — and send the iCloud link. On their iPhone with Poppyseed installed, the link brings the child and the whole log across, and from then on both phones stay in step. Up to five people can share a log with you.
We both downloaded Poppyseed. Who sets up the baby?
Just one of you. That person sets up the baby, then invites the other from Account → Invite someone. The other installs Poppyseed, taps the link in Messages and signs in — no second setup. If you both set the baby up already, that's fine: accept the invite anyway, and Home offers to merge the two copies. Merge into shared log moves everything logged on that phone into the shared log; nothing is lost.
What can each person do?
A partner can do everything you can: log, edit and delete anything. A grandparent, nanny or anyone else can log, and change or remove only what they logged — never a parent's entries. Entries from another phone show BY and the person's name in the timeline.
Why can I only have one partner?
A partner is the other parent: they have full control of the log and share your Plus. So there's one per child. To make someone else the partner, change the current partner's role first.
Does the person I invite need Plus?
No. Sharing needs Plus on your side only. Your partner gets Plus through your subscription while you have one; other caregivers don't need it to log.
How do I change someone's role or remove them?
Open Account → Invite or manage. Under ON THIS LOG, tap Change next to a person to give them a different role. To remove one person, tap Send an invite (Manage who has access, once five people are on the log): Apple's iCloud sharing screen opens with everyone listed, and you can remove someone there. Stop sharing at the bottom removes everyone at once. Anyone removed has their copy of the log taken off their phone the next time it syncs; yours stays as it is.
How do I leave a log someone shared with me?
Account → Leave this log. The child and their entries come off your phone; the parent's log isn't affected, and they can invite you again.
My child appears twice.
That happens when a child was set up on this phone before you joined a shared log for the same child. Home shows a card offering to merge them: merging moves the entries that were only on this phone into the shared log, so everyone has one timeline.
What does "waiting to send" mean?
Under Account → Sync, it counts entries made on this phone that haven't reached iCloud yet — usually because the phone is offline. They send on their own once it's back online. Send sync report writes a text file of what the sync has been doing, for when someone is helping you sort out a problem.
PLUS AND YOUR SUBSCRIPTION
What's in Plus?
Asking Poppy questions about your baby, every School unit (the free plan has Units 0–2), Poppy's checklists written for your baby, and sharing the log with up to five caregivers. Logging, the daily briefing, backups and the pediatrician PDF are free, forever.
Is there a free trial?
New subscribers can start with a free week. It becomes a paid subscription when the week ends unless you cancel before then.
How do I cancel?
Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions → Poppyseed, at least a day before it renews. Plus stays on until the end of the period you've paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple.
I paid but Plus isn't on.
Account → Restore purchases asks the App Store again. Make sure the phone is signed into the same Apple Account that bought it.
DATA, BACKUPS AND PRIVACY
Is my data backed up?
Yes, in your own iCloud, if iCloud is on for Poppyseed in Settings. It also syncs to your other devices signed into the same Apple Account. Export a backup on the account screen writes a file you can keep anywhere.
How do I move to a new phone?
Sign in to the same iCloud account and install the app; the log arrives. If iCloud was off, use Export a backup on the old phone and Import a backup on the new one.
What happens when I import a backup?
Entries in the file that aren't already on the phone are added; ones that are already here are skipped, so importing the same file twice does no harm. Nothing on the phone is deleted or overwritten.
How do I share the log with our pediatrician?
Account → Share with your pediatrician makes a PDF for any period — growth with percentiles, feeds, sleep, diapers and medicine, laid out for a checkup — ready to email, print or AirDrop.
Does it sync with Apple Health?
No, and on purpose. The Health app is one person's record — yours — with no place for a child, so a baby's weight written there would be filed as the parent's. The pediatrician PDF is the way to share it instead.
How do I lock the app?
Account → Privacy lock asks for Face ID (or the passcode) to open Poppyseed, after the app has been in the background for as long as you choose. The widget and Lock Screen timers stay usable so you can still log one-handed.
How do I change units or dark mode?
Account → Units switches between pounds and kilograms, inches and centimeters, ounces and milliliters, and °F and °C. Nothing logged changes — the numbers are only read differently. Account → Appearance sets light, dark, or following the phone.
How do I remove a child?
Account → tap the child → Remove at the bottom. It deletes the child and everything logged for them on every device, and can't be undone — export a backup first if you want one.
Does signing out delete anything?
No. Everything you've logged stays on the phone and in iCloud. Sign back in and it's all there.
